Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2011

I love Salvatore Ferragamo simply because of the elegant femininity that he also portrays in his pieces. This line is wearable for every woman without looking to old or too young. Now, as for his fall collection, I’m loving it. I’ve been seeing pilot’s for a show called ‘Mob Wives’ and this is the collection that I would dress a “mob wife” in. This is very reminiscent of the 40’s mob with the pinstripe skirt suits and a gaucho like crop pant. Ferragamo even went as far as the extra large padded shoulders, but he manged to put his pieces together ever so feminine. He really does know the shapes of women very well. Black and white can typically get very, VERY boring to me, but Ferragamo did an excellent job by sticking with the two colors by mixing different patterns of houndstooth, dots, spots, and more. The trench coat is also a great add on to the mobster look. I’m ESPECIALLY feeling the leather pants, skirts, and dresses, the sleek, slinky silk materials, and deep plunged V tops. I also love the different cuts and styles of pants he created. We can’t forget about the sexy, see through, cut out gowns he creates either. For such monotone colors, Ferragamo really showed he can create wonderful pieces with little color palettes by showing he knows a woman’s body.
